As a young boy he lived the blessed days of his life in his grandparents’ home grazing cows and being one with Nature. A bird would burst into song upon hearing the divine message, and so did Istvan. He began to make music and he has kept doing so to this day.
In 1990 he became the disciple of the renowned sarod maestro Smt. Sharan Rani in New Delhi, from whom he learned complex musical art (table, vocals and sarod), and who got him acquainted with the Eastern way of life and philosophy. Istvan speaks of his master with great honor. “Your master is your teacher, your father, your mother and your leader, your everything. You must surrender yourself to her completely to be able to become a man of knowledge. I still keep on learning from her and from others, and this will be unchanged forever.”
In 1994 the National School of Drama in New Delhi entrusted him with composing the musical score of the drama Einstein, directed by Mohan Maharishi. Istvan has also taught and participated in a number of international concerts, including the World Music Festival in Delhi in 1994. Here he performed his own pieces made up by blending together eastern and western musical traditions, as well as his first own classical Indian music concert. Another event of such importance was the Videshi Kalakar Ustav Festival. Since his return from India, Istvan has played in many different groups, appearing in Holland, Switzerland, Austria, and in Hungary. His concert videos have been presented several times by the Hungarian state television and radio.
His Healing voices
“The basic principal of healing is love,” Paracelsus said, and Istvan is a proof of that. He plays his healing music from heart.
He tells the lesson of his own story as follows: “Few people know that all the pain arrives from the outside, since in the land of the pure soul there is nothing but love and light. Our disease and pain are due to the binding to the self. In the very
moment man is capable of letting go and offers his collected treasures, he will be liberated and miracles will happen to him. The secret of life is nothing else but this: what I get from God as a present I offer it immediately, pass it on and share it with joy. Just be in the presence of mind with service, compassion and humbleness, have a dip in the moment. Nothing else is needed for harmony but silence and devotion. There are great forces and energies in the world, but we can rarely make use of them because we are attached to other things, even though it is written even in folk tales that man has no other duty than to love and to heal.”
Listening to healing music creates harmony in humans, restores the disrupted balance of body and soul and smoothes heartbeat and respiration. The Tibetan singing bowl, one of the many instruments Istvan plays, purifies, creates balance, fills with vitality and starts strong self-healing in the body. The resonance of these cosmic planetary sounds stimulates cortical areas through the auditory nerves, evoking many physiological effects.
His other instruments include the Indian sarod, the tampoura, the Chinese magic water pot and percussions.
He talks about the secrets of the healing sounds like this: “The healing sound is born in a deep meditative state. Just sit in silence in nature. Let the ancient cosmic harmony probe deeply into your heart. Breathe slowly and listen to the songs of trees, plants and birds. Breathe together with spring, be the unfolding flower, breathe together with summer, with the miracle of completeness. Breathe together with autumn, with the passing of time and breathe together with the quiet stillness of winter. “

I do not know exactly how, but many years ago I’m trapped: the heart is closed, my body covered in a gray veil of indifference tired. There was no faith, no strength, no life, just a bog-like routine, uninspired rush and sad anticipation: something that is already over! I asked him, he was given: a special man twisted my way of life, who is a guitar in his hand, never-before-heard songs breathed life into me. Maybe he does not even know him but my rebirth, Stephen Jeszenszky sarod artist also owe. On a cold December evening talking to him – no, I’m not talking, I’m singing – at Szentbékkálla, over the Old Hill…
A tall, thin man, tan skin, gray hair, long, keeping a straight gait airy, blue eyes and they shine like a summer blue sky. Whether it’s a friend or a stranger, the man next to him tamed, forgets to defend, childlike happiness gives himself. He wizard, one of the largest a loving creature is returned to the most important, the feeling of love. Napfényszentély: he calls home, fabulous house, where giant furnace gives the heat source for the water garden the food cellar the meat, where daily visits of birds, stray cats and dear friends, who call back from time to time Stephen peaceful world -. well as me pointedly Outside the wind is blowing into the windbells-clinging, looking at us through the window, as we light a candle, sit next to the furnace and laugh. When I turn my recorder on, do not know yet: I will never delete this track. It’s not even a talk. … Stephen with a guitar in hand, eyes closed, the song speaks to me, creeps the shade through my body, it feels spend it like it somewhere in the heights of message to me.
- What are the silence!- note quietly so as not to do harm to this peaceful space.
- I’m so quiet all day, sometimes I talk for a few seconds, but beyond that I’m pretty quiet day. It is a great miracle. High strength it takes to stick to, be friend with the silence - whispers, eyes closed, while the gently vibrating guitar strings.
- Why?What’s wrong with silence?
- Most people are going to mind the silence, the silence in this case is represented by the painful loneliness, it’s maddening, to escape the noise. The mind always wants ruckus around him, he wants to remember, he is there. However, if your heart will give you the peace of mind will come to nothing, die, there is no reason for existence. The quiet, peace, meditation are our ancient elements. Silence is the perfect presence status. Each is present in all flows. It’s like the song: when you are singing, you are in you for a voice in it, nothing else to pay attention. A voice with a very clear thing: the bird chirps, wind whispers, forest sounds, the silky grass rustling, flowers cringe . My relationship with nature, the elements, the sounds great love for me. Many of kindness, care, kindness I received as a child, with the nature of art, to work with the land, the orchard, the nut trees, the small vine arbor. Each plant was singing to me … Nature is singing now, only strengthened the ego so that you do not feel it. I feel the heart of the song.
Each flower is singing! - It is hearsay. Each plant is smiling at you and asks: Live in the present with me! Sing it with me in the present, be happy! Do not worry about your past, not your future! Just sing with me! When we sing, we can be in the present:
“Source, my source!
source, my source!
source, my source!
hearts future, future heart sweet blessing! Sweet blessing! Turu-Turu-Turu … “ - interrupted by a short song the story. - The heart is a unique, clean source of light comes from the vitality, voice, focus on every beauty there, and if you live in it, then you yourself or the source, the source of the heart.
- If the song is kind of power, why can not everyone sing? We forget? We fear?
- A lot of people locked up in his heart, because they were led them to a private, clean ways. Everyone can sing, but the mind takes the opportunity. He tells me to sing well. But you just need to sing from the heart, and when you do so, you do not have time at the ego intervene reword and compose. You do not need to define the style of music, be it in Tibet or even Hungarian folk music, to the point that a loving hangar give that to another person touches something. know, community sing a spell, you sing in front of the others who repeat it and begins a magical common space, which pass completely between the past and the future, the moment is set to the perfect harmony. Anyone who is sick, who is sad, having great concern is for the moment completely clear.
- This should be the state and then maintain during the weekdays?
- Yes, but unfortunately the indifference major illness right now, with everybody hard it has been brought up.
- And how to divide the wall of indifference? Anyone who wants to awake to find that you get started?
- I can step out of it, if you stop and re honoring yourself beautiful temple in which you live. That’s the way to leave and return to the source - then another short song humming: “Spring, spring, spring, spring, sweet spring, stationery view bathed in the sun, in love with a pure heart, bless establishing spring . Bathe the day .. láláláláááááá ‘ Gift that you woke up today! Gift to sing, you’re here, the world is a gift for me!
In the morning when you wake up, go over to the mirror and say, “Ooh, I met you a long time ago!” Do not hurry, do not rouge out of your mouth fast, do not wash it right away and do not run more! Look deep into your eyes! Notice how nice! The beautiful eyes, that face you, how deep, clean, bright light coming out of it. That’s it. Just look at yourself face! Long minutes to admire the eye. If you managed this exercise, you start with your ears, your forehead, your mouth, your neck, each part of your body, feel how much you love each and every little part of your body, and really, really honor them. Do you honor that built a beautiful body with the soul shining for you. Just be a little bit patient with yourself! Sit down and be quiet! Just watch how you breathe! Just watch how your heart beats! And if I feel comfortable with yourself, then go out into nature, look at the plants, the flowers, they are doing the same as you, they are happy, happy from what they have. Be patient!
In the beginning it will be difficult, it may be that you’re going to cry, but it is also a change. Great great pleasure. You do not want anything or anyone, do not try to be nothing and no one, do not expect anything to be and what it will be, just look at my dear friend’s eyes, and that’s all I say: Oh, I love you so, I’m sorry I neglected, since you’re for me the most precious, sweetest friend. Be yourself best friend of the blessed God’s light, love little touch on your way!
“, days, bright day, thrives in the heart window, the center of each flower, each man’s great heart. Shine, shine, stars shine bright star within us shine, the center of all world, little heart of
every child, every flower in the middle, all the nations children. Shine, shine, stars shine bright star shining in us … “ Everyone is awake but the mind does not let you face in the morning, and a few nice words to say – the friend!
Chanting his music
Interview with Istvan by Christine Chilembu
We are sitting in the garden of Istvan’s Surya Sangita Ashram, in the shade of an old walnut tree. All around us are peace and quiet. Then he takes his guitar and breaks the silence with song. “Everything is singing. Every blade of grass, the flowers and this is old walnut tree, too. Beautiful, old songs to bless the place “, he sings. “Here we sit under it, and I feel that it’s incessantly chanting. Still, motionless. I’m sitting here and I’m flying with it. I’m singing its song, hugging its waist, over an infinite time. Its green foliage adorns the sky. Each flower is smiling. “
Slowly I arrive back into the present. I do not need my notes. I’m no longer a journalist, a student, a visitor, only I exist, and I let my mind instead of my heart receive the answers. “I’ll take a deep breath and sing the song that the angels sent me this morning with the smell of flowers and the dew I touched at dawn”, continues István. “Thank you for allowing me to wake up this morning.”
How did you find your voice?
“My grandparents and my mother sang a lot. Whether my mother was happy or sad, she was singing. And I saw that the singing itself made her happy. From a world that we call the world of adults and the world expectations and control, she could enter a world where she could be happy and free to rise. I really loved this world as an innocent child. I started to sing with her while still in the womb.”
What happens when we sing?
“If you sing from the heart, you can connect to the beautiful cosmic world, where there is no past and no future. Only the blessed present exists there. We do not judge anything or anybody, we’re just existing in this beautiful flow, between heaven and earth. If you sing, you’re in wholeness, in the blessed palms of God, in the flowers’ field, smiling at the heart, and all difficulties evaporate. The soul is happy and the spirit expands. The constraints, which were built by the mind, crumble in an instant. You’re free again, like a bird. You are alive and creating again. You take part in the divine creation and in the magic that is honest and pure. You don’t want to control or change it, just let it lead and teach you.”
So it’s like a deep meditation?
“You make magic when you sing. Especially if you sing while deeply engrossed, which brings you into the joy of the moment. If you sing every day, the channel that connects you with nature opens. All your feelings of pain and emotional suffering disappear. You are renewed. The chant cleans and opens all seven of your energy centers. You live happily in the temple of the body, in this holy place again.”
How does the singing cure?
“All your cells are glad and happy when you sing. You don’t talk and think then. Every chant is in the present, and present is the moment of the divine wholeness. Many people start to cry at my concerts. They cry because poisons, problems, pain and hardness disappear from your body this way, and sensitivity, kindness, beauty, loving reception and harmony re-seats there. You don’t have to defend yourself and be afraid of anyone in this state, you only exist in this timeless state, like a flower, which stretches up to the light, happy in the rain, the dew, the wind.”
In school, many of us have been told that we don’t have a good voice and cannot sing. How can this be rectified?
“Go back to the moment when it was said. It was not said with love or sincerity. Each person sings beautifully and is talented. They just cut off these energies due to limitations of thought and a negative attitude. The body of pain stores the memory if you are told something like this and you miss the magic of chanting for life. You think about it with pain and give energy to the pain body.”
”First of all, forgive the man or woman who did such a thing! He or she said it out of ignorance. Let go of the pain, and get back the energy that has been taken away from you with this. Say it with a smile: ‘Yes, I am a talented soul and the cosmic world recreates my singing skills. It rearranges my vocal chords. I give vitality to my vocal chords to wake up again. The cosmic world’s most amazing sounds of nature speak through me.’ Let this be your mantra: ‘My voice is a beautiful lotus flower, which provides a perfect harmony. I can heal myself and others with this.’ If you sing this one thousand times, your auditory nerves correct the errors. The more you practice, the more order and harmony returns to your body.”
What do you teach to anyone who goes to the Surya Sangita Ashram?
“First of all, I urge you to cast off your fears. Leave at home the kind of defense, constant control, and fear with which you have traveled so far. Arrive at the site, among the flowers and caress them. Just sit in the grass and feel this divine state. Arrive into the sanctuary. Then I ask you to forgive yourself and others. Step inside the shrine and meditate. Listen to the sound of cosmic creation, return to the womb. Be reborn without pain, sadness or any kind of compliance. Just listen, be the witness, the observer. Do not judge, just listen, flow with the nature, wave with the wind. Just be in the moment, just be. Become who you are. Then start singing the sounds of the chakras. Because the chakras have not only colors, they have voices too.”
How are your songs born?
“During raving and chanting. In the presence of the spirit. The song Gate Gate came to me in Istanbul, for example, early in the morning on a spring day. They come with a special feeling as if someone is messaging me. I don’t bring a piece of paper or a pen, I close my eyes and listen to the flood. And the sounds just keep coming through the channel of light. I swim in this light. This is a rare experience in this earthly life. And the first voice comes: ‘Take this tune to the people. Sing it them to be happier and to be in the present.’ Other times I fast. I wait because I know that I can get the sounds at any moment. I’m waiting, sitting in a quiet location, among beautiful natural surroundings, under the cedar tree or on the shores of the lake. I prepare my body. I don’t take food or water. I let my body go hungry and thirsty for this beautiful light. There are no words to describe the catharsis when the tune finally arrives to me. Then, with great respect and love, I thank God for such a great gift that these songs could find a place in my heart.”
